workday

rkd and i both work downtown. this is convenient because it means we can plan for lunch dates in the middle of the week. it's such a nice way to break up the humdrum workday.

this one particular lunch date stood out in my memory. we were at the corner of 6th and flower, about to part ways and go back to work in our respective buildings, and we were kissing goodbye. it was one of those tippy toe, kick my leg back and up moments. i wrote this on my walk back to the office.

on downtown sidewalks,
it's business as usual.
and we are in love.

sleeping beauty

there's this super cute thing that rkd does when he wakes me up in the mornings. before i get out of bed, i pretend to be sleeping and he kisses me so i can pretend wake up, just like in the fairy tale.

am i still dreaming?
a kiss from my prince charming
wakes me from my sleep.

oh, snap!

there's a farmer's market every thursday right by my office at 7th and fig. i met up with rkd for an impromptu lunch and afterwards we stopped to eat a donut peach, pick up avocados, and try many of the summer fruit free samples. i also bought some beautiful snapdragons for his home. bright yellow, deep magenta, cool coral. it's such a cute bunch of colorful flowers. they're currently sitting in a tall vase at my desk until it's time to take them home. because they're so tall and my office chair feels a little low, they add a lot of vertical height to my space.

colors of summer
bloom into velvet petals
rising above me.

hi, i'm back!

it's been a long time since i've posted. so many things have changed in my life; all for the better. major updates since the last posting: new job, new family members, family returning home, new friends, renewed friendships, and the one that has inspired me to start again, a new love. that's exciting! i feel so lucky to have met him and am so happy he's inspired me to return to haikus.

i wrote this in march, when we first started dating, and gave it to him on a slip of notepad paper. the best kisses are the stolen ones, i think!

away from the crowd,
you grab my hand, hold me close,
and steal one soft kiss.
